BUHITA BEACH LODGE

Our story

Built by hand.
And by neighbours.

Guests arriving at Buhita Beach Lodge

We didn't build a business.
We built a place.

It started with a boat crossing and a piece of land nobody thought could hold anything. No road. No power. Only water, mountains, and neighbours who knew every corner of both.

We chose to build together. Bamboo cut from the hillsides. Timber shaped by the carpenters two villages over. Grass roofs laid by the same hands that lay them on family homes.

What arrived isn't polished, and that's the point. Every corner tells you who made it. Every meal tells you where it grew. That's the hospitality we wanted to give.

How Buhita came to be

A slow timeline.

  1. 2023

    The first crossing

A quiet plot of shoreline on Lake Mulehe. A dream too large to say out loud.

  2. 2024

    The neighbours

The villages agree. Not to build a hotel · to build a place.

  3. 2025

    Bamboo and stone

Every beam carried by hand across the water. No machines.

  4. 2026

    The first guests

Coffee at sunrise. Fire at dusk. The lake does the rest.

  5. Today

    Still growing

Solar power, new cabins, a garden that never stops giving.

“Hospitality starts before you arrive.”

That's why we don't have a booking engine. We'd rather answer your questions ourselves · what to pack, how to get here, which season fits the trip you have in mind.
